Course objectives
- improvement of locomotive abilities and fitness level - influence towards a positive approach to sport activities understood as protection against conflicts, civilisation diseases and stress - support of a healthy lifestyle among students - the course focuses on theoretical knowledge and practical acquisition of basic and advanced abilities in rock climbing as well as basic and advanced abilities in cross-country biking - both with emphasis on safety
Syllabus
  • Acquainting with a rocky terrain environment. Building of trust, self-confidence and self-assurance, with an emphasis on personal and partner's safety. Basic terms and commands in use. Detailed acquainting with the work with climbing material (harnesses, ropes, safety equipment, pitons and other). Tying harness knot technique, knots, rock climbing, various safety techniques of sport climbing, wedging protectio, belaying, building stands, rappel, prusik hitching. Basics of hygiene and first aid. Theoretical knowledge of the history of climbing, level of difficulty assessment, building fixed protection in the rocks. Basic terms of and communication during biking. Detailed acquaintance with a mountain bike, technical check, basic bike maintenance and basic servicing. Mountain bike riding technique, descending, climbing, difficult terrain biking. Group biking. Basics of hygiene and first aid. Theoretical knowledge - cycling disciplines, history, legislation.
