- Course objectives
- Insurance Economics I (DSPO) The course Insurance Economics I is subsequent to the course Insurance Industry in the 2nd semester of the specialisation Finance. Its aim is to explain and introduce economics of insurance. It intends to broaden the horizon and knowledge of insurance theory by adding the issue of insurance economics which forms the basis for insurance business effectiveness. The course will bring explanation of the theory and practice of risk management in commercial insurance companies. The sphere of business, tasks and working operations of a commercial insurance company as an entrepreneurial entity will be made clear. The subject will also cover the basics of risk management and its phases. Risk management is an essential precondition for development of insurance in every insurance company. Problems of price of insurance, costing models and own costs of a commercial insurance company will be explored as well. Insurance Economics I will explain the possibilities of risk coverage from insurance as well as the topic of insurable and uninsurable risks. Examination: the exam is combined and consists of an obligatory written and optional oral part.
