The course is designed for Bachelor’s students of the combined form of study in the Economy and Management of Nonprofit Organizations field of study.

Course objectives
The course follows the knowledge gained in course Communication and Public Relations (PR) because marketing, fundraising and PR are already self-contained practical areas that use communication as their tool.
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
Apart from the analysis of the individual marketing steps recommended for application of marketing thinking in the process of non-profit organization management, attention is given to state-of-the-art marketing-management, the marketing system of organization and marketing aspects of the Fribourg model of management for non-profit organizations. Another thematic area of the course involves problems of fundraising theory and practice.
The course moves from the basic theories of fundraising and its understanding as a planned essential process in the life of every non-profit organization as far as to the description and practical adoption of the individual fundraising methods, accentuating namely the written application for a grant.
Syllabus
  • 1st tutorial:
  • Familiarization with marketing principles in the public sector. The first seminar work is assigned – a project of a marketing study.
  • 2nd tutorial:
  • Consultation of problems connected with studying the course textbook (DSO), problem points occurred during self-studying. Familiarization with fundraising principles. The second seminar work is assigned – a project of a grant application.

Assessment methods
The examination requirements include writing up 2 seminar essays. The examination consists of an oral part with a discussion of the seminar essays.
