Course objectives
The course aims to acquaint students with the European Union and European Community by providing them with specific information about the Union’s and Community’s profiles, their institutions, content and forms of their work. The subject matter is divided into three thematic modules:
- European integration, the beginnings, development and present state of integration, the prospects of EU development, EU and EC institutions;
- The Association Agreement between the European Community and the Czech Republic, movement of goods, people, services and capital between EU members and the Czech Republic, the EU and Central and Eastern Europe.
- European Community’s regional policy, Euroregions, their concept and significance, their present state and functioning, development programmes.

  • 1. Development of post-war Europe and the processes of integration.
  • 2. The three pillars of the European Union.
  • 3. Bodies and institutions of the EU and the EC.
  • 4. Economic and monetary union.
  • 5. Budget of the EU.
  • 6. Common policies of the EU.
  • 7.-8. Europe of the regions.
  • 9. External relations of the EU.
  • 10. The Czech Republic and the EU.
  • 11. Cross-border cooperation in the European Union.
  • 12. The Czech Republic and cross-border cooperation.
  • 13. Causes of forming Euroregions in the Czech Republic.
