Course objectives
In the first semester the course provides an opportunity to master some topics and skills typical for a more complex communication, and to apply them to professional activities typical of the business environment, such as:
- taking minutes from a meeting,
- asking for information,
- communication over telecommunication devices and
- writing up messages.
This subject further develops students’ general and business vocabulary as well as grammatical structures typical for technical language. The stress is put not only on the development of communication skills, but also on the ability to use the acquired knowledge actively.
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- understand a general economic text of intermediate difficulty level,
- discuss covered economic topics and
- orientate themselves in English economic terminology relating to the covered topics.
Syllabus
  • Během semestru budou probrána následující témata:
  • Introducción al mundo de los negocios,
  • La empresa - companeros de trabajo, horarios, agenda, reuniones de equipo, cenas de negocios, un viaje de empresa, medios de transporte,
  • La comunicación profesional en la empresa (conversaciones telefónicas, correo electrónico), sus relaciones con el exterior,
  • Publirreportajes - empresas exitosas con historia,
  • Normas de seguridad en la empresa,cultura de empresa,organización de una oficina,
  • La salud laboral, ambiente de trabajo, motivación de los empleados,
  • Dinero, bancos, clientes,
  • Ferias internacionales,
  • Internet y los negocios,
  • Correspondencia comercial (cartas, pedidos),
  • Seguros,
  • Estrategia se publicidad,
  • Presentaciones y conferencias,
  • Gramática: repaso de pronombres (OD/OI), perífrasis verbales, cuantificadores referidos a personas, los tiempos del pasado, expresar una acción pasada en su desarrollo, condicional simple, estilo directo x indirecto, correlación de los tiempos en el pasado, describir las funciones que realiza una persona, imperativo afirmativo y negativo, subjuntivo (presente), expresar opiniones/gustos y sentimientos, construcciones pasivas e impersonales, conectores del discurso, ser x estar, recursos para hablar en el público, comparación, por x para.

Teaching methods
This course is taught in the form of seminars.
Assessment methods
The course is completed with conferring a credit. Credit requirements include the following:
- 80% active participation in seminars (systematic continuous preparation and fulfilling assigned tasks),
- 60% success rate in the final credit test,
- business letter
