- Course objectives
- The introductory part deals with measuring of the national economic performance, problems connected with economic equilibrium, causes and manifestation of cyclical oscillations. The following part of the course explains the nature of money, structure of the banking system and the basic context of inflation. It explicates the economic function of the state, targets and instruments of economic policy, the basic context of monetary policy, fiscal policy, external business and revenue policy. Examination: written.

- 1. Introduction to macroeconomics. Methods of measuring economy’s performance. 2. Equilibrium of the economy and its interpretation in the economic theory. 3. Output determination by total spending – the multiplier model. 4. Economic growth and the theory of business cycles. 5. Demand for money and money supply in the economy. 6. Inflation and its relationship to the product. 7. Development of approaches towards macroeconomic economic policy. 8. Fiscal policy – goals, instruments, expected and real effects. 9. Monetary policy – goals, instruments, expected and real effects. 10. Distribution processes in the economy and income policy of the state. 11. Open economy – international trade and balance of payments. 12. Exchange rates and international financial system. 13. Theory of economic integration and its application in Europe.

- Assessment methods
- The exam is written. The students have to write POT and fill self-correcting exercises in the IS during the semester. The exam takes place in the exam period. The exam has a written form. It is necessary to have more than 60 % to pass the exam. The final written test is to be taken during the exam period. If the student is caught during the examination performing any form of forbidden activity (for example: cribbing, allowing cribbing, using non-permitted materials and devices, exchanging tests, creating copies of tests, or substituting for other student), the teacher will stop the exam and according to the seriousness of the offence the student will be graded F, or FF or even FFF.
