Course objectives
Student will obtain the knowledge about current technologies used for realizing geographic information systems. The lectures will provide examples as well as comparison of existing systems.
Syllabus
  • Principles of GIS, an overview data architecture.
  • Geo-related data management.
  • Data input to GISes.
  • Analytic functions of GISes.
  • Output functions of GISes, thematic maps.
  • Methodology of GIS projecting.
  • An overview of commercial GISes: topologicaly oriented GISes, CAD based GISes and object-oriented GISes.
