- Course objectives
- The course contains basic knowledge of a general connections modelling within a business reality - the so called conceptual modelling.
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
describe particular domain in a well created and well recorded conceptual data model;
recognize well created data model;
understand basics of logical analysis of natural language expressions;
understand principles of constructions and simple type theory within the transparent intensional logic. - Syllabus
- The organisation/enterprise data model and its role as a performance specification in projects of IS development and implementation
- Data modeling by using relational data model end by using the Chen's ERA model
- Logical base of DM, transparent intensional logic (TIL), episthemic base, functional approach, the sorts and the process of sortalization, function construction
- Entity sorts, their identifying and definition, relationships and their modeling, expression of the semantics, hierarchy of supertypes and subtypes, the identity problem
- Definability and decomposibility of attributes, information capability, binarisation theorem

- Teaching methods
- lectures, seminars, group projects
- Assessment methods
- To the exam a homework is required consisting in data model of a selected organization or in analysis of a selected problem. The exam is written. First part is a test and the second one is creation of data model according to a given description of a situation.
