Course objectives
At the end of the course students be able to understand importance of Phytsical therapy and its position in short-term rehabilitation plan. They should be able to make reasoned decisions about indications and contraindications of mechanotherapy, thermotherapy, hydrotherapy, fototherapy and electrotherapy procedures, goal of therapy and its best realization.
This practical course goes hand in hand with theoretical course Physical therapy III.
Syllabus
  • Mechanotherapy – manual traction (of shoulder and pelvic girdle, lumbar spine), mechanical traction, couch for autotraction, vacuum compression therapy (video preview, principles, an individual positioning, intensity, time and frequency of procedures).
  • Mechanotherapy - ultrasound treatment and its semi-static, dynamic, static (subaqual) application (principles, an individual positioning, intensity, time and frequency of procedures). Shock vawe therapy (video preview).
  • Thermotherapy - paraffin bath, heat medium different types application, Infrared therapy (heat tolerance, principles, an individual positioning, intensity, time and frequency of procedures). Cold therapy and cryotherapy.
  • Phototherapy - low level laser therapy, biostimul color therapy, AVS. Electrotherapy - magnetotherapy (security, principles, an individual positioning, intensity, time and frequency of procedures).
  • Focused placement of electrodes on different body parts (skin, subcutaneus tissue, fascia, muscles, joints, ligaments,...). Electrode polarity, quality and wraps.
  • Application of galvanic current and iontophoresis (principles - protective solutions x layered electrodes, effects, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures). Four-chamber bath with galvanic current (principles, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures).
  • Diadynamic current. DF, CP, LP current application (security, effects, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures).
  • Diadynamic current – creation of its coctails focused on effect (security, effects, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures).
  • Träbert´s current – placement of electrods and their polarity focused on the required effect, Farad´s, Neofarad´s, Leduc´s current (security, effects, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures).
  • Medium-Frequency current – Classical Interferential current (placement of electrodes, principles, effects, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures). Isoplanar and Dipolar Vector field surge, differences, specifics.
  • TENS treatment (traditional, acupuncture, hyperstimulation mode). Importance of CV mode. Principles, effects, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures.
  • Other TENS modes application. Output sensitive nerves maps.
  • An individual Physical therapy procedures revision.
