Course objectives
The course is designed to provide students with basic knowledge in various sport disciplines,and sport related topics while successfully mastering reading comprehension and oral as well as written reproduction in English. At the end of the course the students are required to have reached the level B1+ of CEF. Graduates of this course will acquire basic command of professional terminology in sport science, health, anatomy and various sport disciplines. By the end of the course students will be able to effectively deliver presentations in English. In addition, students will gain better command of professionally relevant grammatical phenomena, where the improvement of mainly reproductive communication skills (proper pronunciation, correct spelling, apt use of stylistic registers in written communication and acquisition of basic lexical knowledge) will be emphasized and their eventual mastery expected.

Assessment methods
The course is focused on creating an effective learning climate through content-based instructions, problem-based learning, class discussions, pair work, group work, etc. The course is based on vast self-studies. Students are supposed to look up the topics in the interactive syllabus section ("interaktivní osnova"),and study them. The items: U3 etc., indicate the number of a unit in the above grammar textbook. Each unit is completed by interactive exercises (under the title e-learning) available on the internet for all the students who wish to improve their knowledge of English. The course is completed by a written multiple-choice credit test comprising
