Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to enable students to apply acquired knowledge in practice, make students familiar with working of a physiotherapist specialized working place. Students participate actively in diagnostic-therapeutic procesess in patients, work under professional supervision of physiotherapist.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- work as a member of a medical team in a medical facility;
- practical application of basic diagnostic-therapeutic procedures in rehabilitation treatment in patients in spa facilities;
- reflecting on the short and long term goals of therapy;
- they will get acquainted with the operation and management of care of spa facilities (hospitals).
Syllabus
  • The winter course consists of 3 weeks practice in range of 160 lessons (120 hours). The practice takes place at the argeed spa. 01. Familiarization with workplace operations, principles of occupational safety and protection.
  • 02. Familiarization with the composition of clients in the spa facility (types of diagnoses, capacity of the spa) and equipment.
  • 03. Application of examination and diagnostic procedures to clients in a spa facility
  • 04. The student's own reflection on the short-term and long-term goals of therapy.
  • 05. Application of balneological and physical procedures.
  • 06. Conducting a group exercise.
  • 07. Internship in the children's part of the facility - conducting individual and group therapy under the supervision of an accompanying physiotherapist.
  • Students are unable to perform individual tasks independently without professional supervision. Students are subject to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for Physiotherapists of the Czech Republic.

Teaching methods
Continual practice in spa - 120 hours of practice.
Assessment methods
Students are required to follow the instructions given in the Interactive Course Outline.
At the end of the semester, the student must:
- have 100% attendance at practice;
- submit the completed and signed Confirmation of Completion of Internship and Consent to Placing the Student on Internship to the IS MU Internship Agenda;
- register for the credit date in IS MU;
- to prepare and develop a case report, with which he will actively work in the follow-up subject Kinesiology, algesiology and derived techniques of diagnosis and therapy in the following semester.
