Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with a basic overview of the key attributes of social science, to develop their understanding of the social, psychological and ethical aspects of sport and coaching and to provide tools for working effectively with individuals and teams Further, the goal is to prepare students to be leaders as coaches who also understand the human and social aspects of their profession.
Learning outcomes
The student understands the principles of sports ethics and fair play and is able to apply them in the daily training and competition environment. The student is able to convey the values of fair play to athletes and promote ethical behaviour.
The student understands cultural, gender and social differences and is able to approach them with respect. Can create an inclusive training environment where all athletes feel supported regardless of their background.
The student is able to critically evaluate their own coaching methods and approach, including their impact on individual athletes and the team. He/she actively seeks feedback and is willing to continually improve not only in technical, but also in social and psychological areas.
