Course objectives
Course graduates should be able to logically think about prevention as a tool to contribute to the sustainable development of humanity and life. Course graduates should acquire knowledge of the active influence of risk factors for the emergence of civilization diseases.
Learning outcomes
Graduates of the course will be able to:
1. search for existing prevention programs
2. Evaluate current prevention programs
3. evaluate the results of the preventive examinations
4. Focus on strategic recommendations on health promotion
Syllabus
  • Overview of lecture topics:
  • Health and disease. Definition of health. Definition of illness.
  • Basic determinants of health. Health promotion.
  • The importance and objectives of prevention in the field of chronic noninfectious diseases
  • Stages of disease development and inclusion of all levels of prevention (principle, meaning).
  • Lifestyle and the emergence of civilization diseases. Quality of life in relation to health.
  • Targeted assistance with regard to specific individual needs.
  • System, characteristics and organization of preventive programs (planning, finance).
  • Evaluation of preventive programs (short-term and long-term effect of the program).
  • World Health Organization (WHO establishment and operation, health programs implemented in the Czech Republic, health 2020)
  • Overview of seminar topics:
  • Organization of preventive programs (planning, finance, creation of a crisis intervention system).
  • Evaluation of preventive programs (short-term and long-term effect of the program).
  • Preventive examinations and examinations. Screening examinations in primary care.
  • Quality of life in relation to health (evaluation methods).
