Course objectives
The course is primarily focused on more detailed analysis of contemporary IR theories, as they can be observed since 1980's. Two main areas of interest could be identified as debate between neorealism and neoliberalism, and also various theories fitting into the broad category of postpositivism - like feminism, critical theory etc.
Syllabus
  • 1) Neorealism and neoliberalism - debate and/or synthesis? 2) Postpositivism I. - historical sociology, critical theory 3) Postpositivism II. - feminism, postmodernism, normative theory 4) Social constructivism: a third way? 5) Little bit different theory I. - F. Fukuyama and S. Huntington 6) Little bit different theory II. - images of world politics
