Course objectives
The workshop aims to introduce the participants to the skills and techniques needed to become a video journalist. The workshop is a mix of theoretical and practical work that aims to build confidence in, and a professional approach to, the role of the VJ. Emphasis will be placed on techniques on how to film for the editing process. We will learn how to tell a story through pictures and how to deliver a story that is easily understood and appreciated by our viewers. By the end of the course you can expect to produce a news package, on your own, from research to transmission within a limited period of time. The course is being led by Karol Cioma, a former BBC employee who has filmed and edited thousands of news items. He now specialises in training journalists, camera operators and picture editors. He has designed and run VJ courses for the past 8 years.
