Course objectives
The main aim of this course is to introduce students essentials of psychological research. During this course students are taught how to conduct psychological research and how to review research reports. Passing out this course students should be able to propose and realize psychological research project, mainly formulate research question and hypothesis, prepare appropriate research design, choose sampling method and write down research report.
The course consists of biweekly thematic modules that typically include textbook and other readings, lectures, seminars and graded activities. Students should read the assigned chapters in the course textbook and use the IS e-learning system to read the supplemental literature, which is available electronically in PDF and/or Word format.

Teaching methods
The course is organized as a series of biweekly topics which include lectures, seminars, homework and required reading.
Each week’s study will typically involve required readings, viewing of lecture materials and working on team reseach project. Each seminar students have to present their work on team reseach project. Students have to carry out review of particular research study.
Using the MU Information System
Class resources are available to students through Masaryk University’s online Information System (IS). Under the course title “PSY112: Methodology of psychology: quantitative approach” students will find all important information including syllabus, literature for reading, tasks descriptions or audio materials.
Assessment methods
Students will receive a final letter grade (A-F) for the semester based on the following components:
50% – Team research project
50% – Final exam
