- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquaint students with fundamental cases of environmental conflicts from recent years in the Czech Republic. During the course, students will get familiar with the history and development of these cases and the main actors involved. Emphasis is placed on capturing the complexity of individual cases and also on identifying more general patterns that repeat across different cases. The course should enable students to orientate themselves in major environmental conflicts in the Czech Republic and to approach their assessment with an understanding of the necessary contexts. Students will be able to critically evaluate the positions of the individual actors involved in the case as well as the promoted solutions. These skills could be applied for the analysis of other environmental conflicts in the Czech Republic as well as in other countries.
