Course objectives
Through the crosscut to relevant disciplines - ecology, synecology, population ecology, evolutionary ecology, ethology – special attention is paied to practical aspects of nature and species conservation.The main objective of the course is to guide students to the understanding of eco- and biologigal aspects in the landscape. The concept of territorial systems of ecological stability and landscape character protection; principles and forms of management of protected areas; and ecosystem management by agricultural and foresty practices.

  • Definitions - ecology, landscape ecology, landscape ecology as a discpline of science.
  • Ecological paradigmas in landscape ecology, its transdisciplinary character.
  • Landscape - definition, classification, functions, dimensions.
  • Landscape as structured space.
  • Movement and landscape, gene flows, dynamics, biocorridors, webs, matrix.
  • Ecotones and territorial systems of ecological stability.
  • Biodiversity in heterogenic landscapes.
  • Fragmentation, metapopulation dynamics.
  • Landscape planning, urban ecology.
  • Landscape character, anthropic impact on landscape, bioindication.
  • Management of protected areas.
  • Agricultural management of protected areas.
