Course objectives
The aim of the course is to outline to the students the particular fields of health, health care and health policy though clarification and explanation of the following concepts: health, illness, epidemiology, natural history of disease, nozology, diagnosis in epidemiology, measurement of the illness frequency in the population, causality in epidemiology, basic types of epidemiology studies, epidemiology and health policy, system of the health statistics, system of the health care, need, requirements and consumption of the services. The aim of the course is also to inform the students about system of financing of health care, system of health services, ethical values in the care of health of people, with European health strategy, with the program of World Health Organization Health 21 and their working concepts, methods and possibilities. At the end of the course students will be able to clarify basic concepts from the field of health care and heath policy, and also students will be able to clarify functioning of the health care system and importance of health policy.

Assessment methods
Lectures, seminars and reading. Students are preparing continuously according to the theme and literature in the syllabus. The seminar paper is the precondition for participation at the examination. The exam is oral.
