- Course objectives
- Documentary production in the radio comprises a relatively wide field, from journalism to art. “Document” in the title of the course is meant in a general sense and includes various documentary genres, such as band, portrait or feature. The definitions of these genres are not always clear, depending on various differences in form and content. But the goal is not to create into a genre box, but give rise to a component that communicates, “works”. The formal evaluation of the work can be left to theorists. However, it is obviously necessary to know the specifics of these genres and use this knowledge in own work. This is the first goal of the course. The second goal of the course is to understand the common know-how of radio documentary, to understand sound (not just words) as a building stone of the production. A different and vital thing is the individual style of the documentarist that cannot be obtained within one semester since it originates through author's own work. The form of this style is more often affected by individual factors, and is evolving and changing as time goes by. The course offers the opportunity to create perhaps the first such an author's product, which is the third goal of the course. The course designed as a creative workshop assumes a basic knowledge of radio production, filming and editing, which will not be part of the course.
