- Course objectives
- The course concentrates upon major theoretical issues of the research into parties and party systems. Special attention will be paid to issues of conceptualization,typology and comparison of parties and party arrangements. The main objective of the course is to provide and develop a sophisticated understanding of the challenges of conceptualization of parties and party systems in order to be able to assess properly the analytical capacity of available conceptual tools and models.

- 1. Conceptualization of parties and party systems. 2. Typologies of contemporary party systems. 3. Systemic properties of parties conceived as party systems operational units. 4. Institutional framework of parties and party systems evolution. 5. Parties and alternative agents of political pluralism. 6. The complex relationship(s) between parties, party systems, polity and society. 7. Conceptualization of multi-layered territorial and political pluralism.
