Course objectives
The course aims students to acquire basic dramaturgical analytical skills on the specific material of a genre of higher current affairs and documentary in both television (film) and radio.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to the course. Dramaturgy: origin, context and relationship to journalism.
  • Form and content: an aesthetic norm as a social phenomenon, the definition of genre.
  • The basic terminology - narration / postnarration, theme, structure.
  • Analysis - a musical work: the context (search), analysis (construction).
  • Ostension and space: performativity, shot and cut as a means of audio-visual construction of reality.
  • Reality and fiction: the respondent as a social actor (B. Nichols), fiction and documentary (N. Carroll).
  • Ethical problems of the use of fictitious elements in journalism and documentary.
  • Analysis - performative piece on a documentary basis (biography, travelogue, ...).
  • Summary: audio, video and performative.
  • Expression in media.
  • Institutions, product and production: a process story, synopsis, screenplay, copyright, production and postproduction.
  • Final discussion.
