Course objectives
Annotation of the subject: The subject provides the basic knowledge of the sociological problems in medicine and the health care system. It will teach the student to understand the sociological issues of health and illness, the attitudes and values of the individuals and groups including families, the dynamics of the social system nurse – doctor – patient, to identify his/her own roles and standards of their behaviour, to gain insight into the possibilities and resources of the society regarding health retention and protection. Goals: *To become familiar with the basic sociological terminology of the sociology of medicine and the health care system *To be able to analyze the sociological concepts of health and illness *To gain knowledge about social relations within a professional group *To gain knowledge about social relations with a client and his/her *To gain knowledge about the position of a client in the hospital system and the system of community care
