Course objectives
The course deals with crises, crisis management, and crisis prevention in politics. The goal of the course is to teach the students to understand the theory of ideal crisis communication and to critically evaluate (ongoing) crisis communication. At the same time, they will be able to develop crisis communication strategies for different situations and scenarios and to manage a crisis or emergency. The course emphasizes practical tools and techniques which means students should be able to easily transfer gained skills and knowledge into the context of the real world.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will be able to - identify, classify and analyze the crisis; - prevent crisis situations; - evaluate crisis plans. - propose crisis plans and manuals.

  • What is a crisis? How to define a crisis. How to prevent crisis situations. How to create a crisis communication plan. Reputation management. Case studies and their analysis. Simulation of a crisis.
