- Course objectives
- The course is the basis for practical training of future television journalists, publicists and authors of television works. At the end of this course the student will be able to: independently process a television journalistic unit or a television journalistic work from a visual point of view. They will be able to work with a recording device, record reportage materials on various media and then process them in video editing software. They will know the theoretical principles of editing and will be able to use them in practice. The student will be familiar with basic concepts such as video codecs and coding schemes and will be able to work with them.
- Learning outcomes

The student will be familiar with basic concepts such as video codecs and coding schemes and will be able to work with them.
- Syllabus
- Warp: 1. Synchron shooting Assignment: interview with the respondent - broadcast in total, 3 questions, within 2 minutes with the study. Find a news topic. Optionally cover visually (partially) In the lesson: control of visual material (microphone location, position of editor and respondent), cut in the statement (editing over white / coverage of images), when covering the interview, editing the sound (questions / answers must be at the same volume level) 2. Basics of editing Assignment: read message - select news topic, corresponding video accompaniment - approx. 25-30 seconds ((Shoot 10 shots - video sequence - so that the pictures can be cut on top of each other.)) In the lesson: basics of the editing composition - use a shot triad in the image, the shots should fit on the text (the images will be released by the director after about 4 - 6 seconds), leave over - the image material must be longer than the written text 3. Shooting STUP Assignment: ČSS - read message with synchronous and stand-up. Creative stand-ups. In the lesson: control of visual material, interconnection of synchronous and stupa (audio and video, rotation of the canteen), movement in the image (movement of the editor / movement of the camera), the possibility of correcting errors from the field 4. Mojo Assignment: shoot an image sequence on 6 shots with your mobile phone - learn the sequence of movement and changing the size of shots, money shots. Per hour: differences in camera / mobile images, settings, formats, interlaced / progressive shooting 5. Basic elements of reportage - the so-called skeleton and their interconnection In the lesson: the structure of the report, how to arrange the individual elements, the use of noises to link the story; Violation of editing principles - analysis of samples and search for wrong elements, how to avoid the loop of the report (few shots, badly written text) 6. No comments Assignment: no comments - studio, visually interesting topic, nice shots with noises - until 1:30 In the lesson: Theoretical lesson (video formats, codecs or coding schemes, bitrate, aspect ratio, etc.), the possibility of consultation in the production of a report 7. Live entry In the lesson: introduction to directing, live broadcasting, switching cameras and sources during live broadcasting (Petr Uhlíř) 8. Editing effects In the lesson: acquaintance with the most frequently used editing effects in news (format change, adjustment of field interlacing, face blurring / license plates, screen division, etc.) 9. Subtitles In the class: work with subtitles, sourceing, etc. 10. Work with camera / mobile phone In class: field work - choice of lighting conditions when filming an interview - how to cope in difficult situations (external lighting, blend), field exercises 11. Working with different types of microphones In class: field work - how to choose the right microphone, how to work with a cue, where to record a conversation (to make it sound acceptable - analysis of previous syncs), field exercises 12. Solutions in video editing programs In an hour: Stabilization, what to do if you lose material - re-link media, etc. 13. Evaluation of previous work, analysis of problematic actions.

- Contact teaching, work with a camera and an editing program, consultations, discussions, analysis of examples, practical work with audiovisual material.
- Assessment methods
- The student receives credit for attending classes (maximum two absences allowed) and completing continuous tasks. In case of quarantine or inability to attend classes, the student will be evaluated on the basis of individual tasks.
