- Course objectives
- Contemporary research in the social sciences prides itself on methodological cogency, and this also applies to the field of European Studies. The course Foundations of Analysis in European Studies introduces students to the basics of writing a professional text and trains them to master three practically applicable types of output. The aim of the course is to prepare students to write professional texts. Students will learn terminology and understand the logic of research. In addition to designing and executing a research paper, students should also learn to present their findings.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to identify main analytical tools that can be used in the European studies research
Student will be able to draft appropriate methodology for course paper (as for example position paper)
Student will be able to to draft appropriate methodology for BA thesis

- Teaching methods
- The course combines lectures and seminars.
- Assessment methods
- The course is completed as pass/fail, for which students complete assignments for individual seminars and attend lectures and seminars. Seminar assignments: 4 seminar assignments for a maximum of 13 points each, i.e. a maximum of 52 points in total. Bonus points for attending lectures: 7 times attending lectures for 3 points each, i.e. max 21 bonus points in total. Attendance at seminars: 4 times attendance at a seminar for 3 points each, i.e. max 12 points in total. Online test: maximum of 13 points. Total maximum of 77 points, threshold for credit: 65 points. Participation in seminars is compulsory.
