- Course objectives
- The course focuses on the emergence of Justice and Home Affairs cooperation, the shaping of the different JHA policies (migration and asylum policies, border management, police cooperation, judicial cooperation in criminal matters, and prevention and the fight against crime and terrorism) and the current state of affairs in each of these policies. The roles and competences of EU institutions and agencies active the JHA field (such as Frontex, Eurojst, or Europol) will be discussed as well, along with institutional developments in terms of multi-annual programs and other major policy instruments.

- To gain an understanding of the scope and meaning of justice and home affairs of the European Union
To gain knowledge of the origins and historical development of justice and home affairs in the European Union
To acquire knowledge of the key policy instruments in the field of the justice and home affairs of the European Union
