- Course objectives
- The course helps students with undertsanding of: theoretical foundations of leadership and innovation practical challenges of leading and innovating the innovation ecosystem and the role of innovation in economic development entrepreneurship and open innovation Practical application of the theoretical foundations and learned tools in different settings
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students will be able to: Define leadership and innovation Analyze leadership situations and propose and evaluate options for action Apply tools of entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship to problems they encounter
- Syllabus
- This is a preliminary plan: Leadership Basics (3 classes): We will discuss key theoretical concepts and foundational questions in leadership theory and practice, including: Do leaders matter? Individual, environmental, and organizational factors influencing leadership performance Leadership ‘SPA’: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and their thinking on leadership and leaders Situational model of leadership Innovation basics (3 classes): We will discuss a selection of key theoretical concepts and foundational questions in innovation theory and practice: The concept of innovation as an economic driver: clusters, ecosystems, entrepreneurial state Understanding entrepreneurship basics and open innovation Applying entrepreneurship in different contexts Analytical Application: Case Studies on Leadership and Innovation (2 classes): The groups of 3-4 students will present a case study on the topic of their choice showcasing the role of leadership in (un)successful innovation in different types of organizations Practical Application (2 classes): Students will pick a problem from their own environment to propose, evaluate, and pilot an entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial solution Výukové metody: A combination of class discussions, case studies, and individual projects and presentations Metody hodnocení: Participation in class discussions Case study preparation and presentation Individual project
