Cíle předmětu
- Students will gain a basic view about Polish legal system;
- Students will be informed about the practical aspects of application of Polish law in courts.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- describe basic similarities and differences between selected branches and institutions of Polish and Czech law;
- analyze legal institutes, their development and interconnections in civil, criminal law and intellectual property law;

  • 1. Origins, and general principles of Polish legal system. The structure of administration of justice. Sources of law.
  • 2. Constitution of Poland and the mechanisms of its protection
  • 3. Polish civil substantial and procedural law
  • 4. Polish criminal substantial and procedural law
  • 5. Polish intellectual property law

Some lectures will be focused on Polish civil and criminal law as the main branches of Polish legal system, while the other will aim to show the basics of some of other branches of law and the general outline of Polish legal and judicial system. The primary objective of the course will be to show basic principles governing civil and criminal (both substantial and procedural) law. The course provides students with an overview of Polish legal system and gives the ability to spot the similarities and differences between Polish and Czech law.
