Course objectives

- to understand what the sustainable development concept is
- to familiarize with the theory of sustainable development strategies and their goals
- to understand the components and basic principles of sustainable development
- to analyze major differences between sustainable development and different concepts of social and economical development
- to use knowledge and be able to outline what is the impact of sustainable development strategies on modern world economies

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- to understand and explain sustainable development theory
- to understand basic principles and objectives of sustainable development
- to analyze differences between sustainable development practices within the governmental policies of EU’ countries
- to use knowledge to be able to outline best practices of sustainable development strategies

• 1. The concept of sustainable development and its basic principles( theoritical aspects).
• 2. The concept of sustainable development in the light of modern economic theories.
• 3. Sustainable development as a goal of global agreements.
• 4. Sustainable Development Strategy and Agenda 21 Strategy.
• 5. Sustainable transport- major problem of modern transport policies.
• 6. Organic and sustainable agriculture as a strategic sector within EU’ policies.
• 7. Sustainable tourism.
• 8. Poverty and social development problems in the era of digitalization.
• 9. Europe 2020 Strategy
• 10. Circular economy.
