- Course objectives
- After successful completion of the course: understands legal concepts mutual to the legal system, institutes and principles; interprets legal regulations, analyzes the legal order and its functions; categorizes the initial set of knowledge necessary for the study of positive legal subjects; uses general legal terminology; masters the basics of legal thinking and working with legal texts.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to: use the concepts and institutes associated with the legal order; understand the structure of the legal order; interpret legal norms; apply the principles of legal thinking appropriately.
- Syllabus
- The concept of law in the context of the rule of law. The main methodological approaches to law. Structure and system of law. Sources of law. Legal norm, concept, structure and elements. Classification of legal norms and their characteristics. Scope of legal norms. Interpretation of law. Forms of implementation of legal norms, the concept of the legal relation. Legal facts as prerequisites for a legal relation. Subjects, objects and content of a legal relationship. Application of law. Legal responsibility.

- Assessment methods
- Written examination in the form of a closed-response test. The examination is a test of theoretical knowledge consisting of twenty questions (with closed answers), which may include the solution of practical examples. The purpose of the exam is to test the ability to memorize the concepts necessary for orientation in the legal system, recognize the features of the legal system, use the concepts of legal theory and apply the principles of the legal system. The duration of the test is 25 minutes and it is taken by written marking in a form/computer room directly into the system (depending on the nature of the actual measures). There are four answers to each question, and all correct answers must be marked correctly (all, one, two or three answers may be correct) in order to pass the question and be awarded a mark. A maximum of 20 points can be scored in total, with a minimum of 0 points. (18-20 points = A; 15-17 points = B; 13-14 points = C; 11-12 points = D; 9-10 points = E; 0-8 points = F)
