- Course objectives
- The course deals with challenges of online platforms (eg YouTube, TikTok, Instagram) and the approaches to tackling these challenges in the European legal framework. The focus is on the liability of platform providers for copyright infringing uploads by platform users, upload filters and the transparency of search results.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, students will be:
- able to understand legal challenges posed by online platforms with regard to copyright infringements and transparency.
- familiar with the obligations which the European legal framework (especially the Digital Services Act, the Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market and the Platform-to-Business-Regulation) imposes on platform providers.
- able to critically evaluate legal approaches to addressing challenges posed by online platforms. - Syllabus
