- Course objectives
- Purpose of the course in understanding of specifics of international law and supranational law of the European Union because of their increasing importance for practice and growing impact on national (Czech and Slovak) law in the beginning of study of bachelor's degree programmes.
- Learning outcomes
- Student shall be capable to:
- explain features of international and European law,
- specify consequences of international and European law for countries and individuals,
- understand ways of application of international and European law besides, in conjuction or in conflict with national laws,
- seek particular international and European legal Framework. - Syllabus
- 1, International law as the second legal system besides national law(s), supranational law of the EU (European law) as mixed system
- , 2. States, international organizations as subjects of international law, individuals as marginal subjects,
- 3. sources of international law -international customs and international treaties,
- 4. creation and removal of international treaties,
- 5. enforcement of international law,
- 6. implementation of international law in domestic settings,
- 7. the European Union as supranational organisation,
- 8. sources of EU law - founding treaties, regulations, directives - law-making,
- 9. application of EU law (direct effect, primacy),
- 10. procedures for EU law enforcement and streamlining of interpretation,
- 11. information about international and European law,
- 12. language régime of international and European law.
