- Course objectives
- The lectures seek to introduce the basic concept of law and relevant problems of modern legal thinking. The methode of explanation:the system-historical overview and critique of the legal thought. The subject of lectures are divided into: a)analysis of the basic term and cathegories; b)analysis of the basic problems;c)analysis of contemporary problems of the theory of human rights

- Syllabus on legal philosophy: 1.What is legal philosophy? The role of legal philosophy in the system of legal science. 2. Why exists law? Law and society. Law and moral. Law and politics. 3. The beginning of legal thinking: a) Natural law by Plato, Aristotles, T. Aquinas; b) Concept of natural law (T.Hobbes, J.Locke); c) The first definition of law (I.Kant, G.F.W. Hegel); d) The concept of positive law (J.Austin, H. Kelsen, H.L.A. Hart); e) New definitions of law (R. Dworkin, N. Luhmann, J. Habermas); 3. Law and justice: the basic principles of the theory of justice by Plato, K. Marx, J. Rawls; 4. Law and punishment; 5. The basic principle of theory of human rights: the analysis of right to life, right to property, right to be different
