Course objectives
The subject is addressed to students interested in the issue of non-profit sector and civil society. The course is drawn up as opening introduction to four constitutional disciplines of branch. In the course of four one-day seminar meetings, the academic workers of four faculties of the Masaryk University (Faculty of Economics and Administration, Faculty of Art, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Studies) will introduce to students the principal theories, fundamental findings, branches of research and intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary relations and context in the field of non-profit sector and civil society. At the end of the course the students will be able to orientate themselves in the issue of non-profit sector from the economical, sociological and, in particular, legal point of view.

  • Legal theoretical look view of civil society and non-profit sector, private law aspects of foundation law in the European context, private law aspects of association law in the European context, Political and social theory of civil society, social movements and groups of interests – the American tradition, Political and social theory of civil society and social movements –the European tradition, Citizen involvement –look of civil society from the individuals’ point of view, Defining of non-profit organisations and various notions of non-profit, Relation between the state and non-profit organisations, financing of non-profit organisations, Account and tax framework, Methodological framework for study of civil society in modern history, Transformation of civil society in the19th century, Transformation of civil society in the 20th century
