MP406Zk German for Lawyers I.4.
Students of third and fourth year with a good knowledge of the German language; ideally after completing the course “Introduction to Austrian law”. Language of the course: German.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is (i) to deepen students' knowledge of some basic institutes of Austrian Substantive Civil Law and (ii) to teach the students how to correctly apply German legal terminology in practical situations and cases.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction, basic concepts, structure of ABGB
  • 2. Rights in rem – ownership, possession, rights to the alien rem
  • 3. Commitment law – generally, purchase agreement, contract for work
  • 4. Inheritance law
  • 5. Test and its assessment

Assessment methods
Written test - 20 multiple-choice questions, translation of 10 sentences. It is necessary to obtain at least 65%.
