- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should understand to the priciples of health protection and health promotion, according to main health determinants. They should be able to use their knowledge in intervention regarding modifiable factors, both in patients and general population
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to:
To identify and describe the main determinants of health and its significance, to distinguish between essential and less important factors
To define and describe the main principles and ways of public health protection
To characterize major environmental factors and risks (physical, chemical, biological)
To define and describe the main occupational risks a ways for protection
To define and describe the main lifestyle risks
To define and describe the main ways of health promotion - Syllabus
- The Priciples of health protection and promotion. Possibilities of diseases prevention, types of prevention.
- Cardiovscular diseases prevention
- Cancer prevention
- Nutrition in ohealth protection and prevention of diseases
- Evaluation of dietary habits
- Overweight an obesity as important risks for health
- Evaluation of individual nutritional status
- Health protection against environmental factors – physical, chemical, biological
- No-smoking as an important way of health protection

- Colloquium in the form of written test with 20 questions with choice of answers. Always only 1 is correct. In the case of a colloquium, it is required to have more than 50% correct answers for the pass mark (passed) and credit.
