Course objectives
Binocular vision is ability to see with both eyes easily. It is not congenital, it developes from first year and consolidates until six year. You can divide it artificial on three levels. Binocular vision is important for carier choice and allso for social life. Disorders of binocular vision are strabismus( cross – eye) and amblyopie(blunt – sight). Strabismus can be treated by glasses and pleoptic, surgery and ortoptic(re – creation of binocular vision). Paralytical strabismus occurs as result of oculomotorical nerve or muscules paralysis, or CNS disorder. Paralysis allso express itselfs as deviation of eye and binocular vision disorder.

Syllabus
  • Refractive abnormalities examination and their correction by strabismus, prescription of different types of glasses. Surgery in case of shortsightendness. Pleoptik – bluntsightendness treatment: different types of active and pasive pleoptik. Occlusion – its variety and indication to wearing it. Surgical treatment – indication, age of operation, types of surgical intervention, its dosage. Rehabilitation after surgery. Strabismus surgery of adults and its outcome. Ortoptik (re – creation of binocular vision) – indication, kinds of treatment, outcomes. Paralytical strabismus – causes, types, examination, conservative and surgical treatment. Nystagmus. Strabismus screening and monitoring. How can optician help by the strabismus care. Exercise: introduce to running of strabological ambulance, ophtalmological unit a pleo – ortoptic practiceroom. Assumption of principles and individual work with different diagnostic, therapeutic, pleoptic and ortopic devices: troposcop, Bagolinis glasses, Maddoxs cross, Worths lights, Hess schild, convergens – trainer, muscular trainer, cheiroscop, stereoscop and many others. Work with prizmatic glasses in praxis.
