- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Applied Biochemistry (programme PřF, B-AB)
- Applied Biochemistry (programme PřF, B-AB, specialization Clinical biochemistry)
- Laboratory Assistant (programme LF, B-SZ)
- Course objectives
- This course will teach the student the application of statistical procedures and methods for a routine workflow in a laboratory of clinical biochemistry. He/she will be capable of utilizing and evaluating the statistical procedures of internal control of quality in order to discern the systematic or random errors of measurement. The student will be introduced to and will be able to use the systems of quality control in automatic biochemistry analyzers, laboratory information systems and external systems of quality control and will be competent to work with external quality control systems (SEKK). He/She will learn about biochemical tests utilization, will be able to calculate the total uncertainty of test results and use them for clinical interpretation. The student will learn how to verify the external subcontractor’s reference intervals, will be able to assess the diagnostic specificity and sensitivity of various tests and to determine the optimal cut-off value via ROC curve and related parameters. He/She will be acquainted with the requirements of Czech Society for Clinical Biochemistry (ČSKB) for method validation and verification and will be able to perform them.
