Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge of pathophysiological basics and artificial nutrition techniques in intensive care and skills in specialized nutritional care in patients with severe nutritional and metabolic disorders and patients with severe general illness that has or may result in nutritional disorders.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to determine individual nutritional need in patients with severe conditions and some specialized nutritional care procedures, will be able to apply examination methods of patient nutritional status, available means of enteral nutrition, nutritional support and parenteral nutrition It will be able to determine, measure and calculate energy needs in critically ill patients, to indicate individual enteral nutrition and to participate in the strategy of using parenteral nutrition in a patient in severe condition.

  • First The metabolism of the major nutrients in acute diseases. Second Water, electrolytes and micronutrients in intensive care 3rd Enteral nutrition in intensive care. 4th Parenteral nutrition in intensive care. 5th Artificial nutrition in the perioperative period. 6th Artificial nutrition in stem cell transplantation. 7th Special artificial nutrition by type of disease. 8th Practical aspects of nutritional support in critically ill patients KARIM 9th Enteral nutrition. Gastrointestinal tolerance EN. Intestamin . 10th Parenteral nutrition. Amino acids and glutamine. Fat emulsions . 11th Preoperative nutritional preparation . Planned and emergency surgery . 12th Postoperative patients in the surgical ICU. Monitoring in ICU after surgery. 13th Postoperative early enteral nutrition. Parenteral nutrition after surgery. 14th Metabolic disorders in intensive care in the ICU . 15th Practical aspects of nutritional and metabolic care in the hospital - ICU .
