Course objectives
Broadening the knowledge from onomastics. Onomastic analysis of anthroponymic and toponymic materials. Teaching matter about proper names in secondary scool textbooks of Czech.
After finishing the course:
- student takes his bearings in the onomastic theory and onomastic terminology;
- student masters classification of the proper nouns;
- student takes his bearings in the toponymy and anthroponymy.
Learning outcomes
After finishing the course, the student will: - have insight into the systematics, creation and social functioning of; - have knowledge of toponymy as part of the lexical and word-forming plan of the language as well as as part of the necessary functional elements of communication; - gain a basic understanding of proprietal sphere of language; - be able to use acquired knowledge not only in school practice, but also in many sectors of the public sphere, for example, when creating urban terms.

  • 1 Appellative spheres and language spheres of propria of proper nouns / names.
  • 2 Meaning of propria of proper nouns / names, object of propria of proper nouns / names.
  • 3 Appellative process of propria of proper nouns / names, a pattern of propria - proper nouns/names, type.
  • 4 Classification of onomastics.
  • 5 Relationship of place names and history of the language, history of the culture, colonisation.
  • 6 Anthroponomastics, types of anthroponyms, the so-called living names.
  • 7 Social and cultural conditionality of a Christian/first name selection.
  • 8 Chrematonomastics.
