Prerequisites
The German for Academic Purposes course has been intended for intermediate and upper-intermediate German doctoral program students at Masaryk University Faculty of Education. The students should have already passed their general examinations in German.

Course objectives
PhD. program students: In the German for Academic Purposes course the postgraduate students of Masaryk University Faculty of Education will consolidate their language skills, widen their knowledge of terminology relating to their specialization, and learn some academic skills (presentations, CVs, letters of application, note-taking, summary writing, etc.) in German. Examination requirements: Successful students will be credited for: - Reading comprehension (special authentic text of approx. 200 pages) - Oral presentation (presenting the PhD. thesis structure and original results) - Discussion about the doctoral research preformed - Writing a summary (of a general text from a current newspaper).
Syllabus
  • (PhD. program students) In the German for Academic Purposes course the postgraduate students of Masaryk University Faculty of Education will consolidate their language skills, widen their knowledge of terminology relating to their specialization, and learn some selected academic skills (presentations, CVs, letters of application, note-taking, summary writing, etc.) in German. Assessment methods (in Czech)
Konsultationen zur Prüfung und die Prüfung auf dem Niveau C1 des Gemeinsamen europäischen Referenzrahmens. Die Prüfung hat den A) schriftlichen und B) den mündlichen Teil. A) Schriftliche Materialien zur Prüfung in deutscher Sprache bereitet der Student/in sebständig und gibt sie dem Prüfer eine Woche vor der mündlichen Prüfung ab: 1. Das Resümee des gelesenen Textes (200 Seiten eines deutschen Fachtextes, der sich zum Thema der Dissertationsarbeit bezieht), 2. Die Schlüsselterminologie aus dem gelesenen Text augelistet, mit tschechischen Übersetzungen oder Erklärungen, 3. Information über das Thema der Dissertationsarbeit, 4. Tabellarischer Lebenslauf. Umfang von einzelnen schriftlichen Materialien: cca 1 Seite A4. B) Mündliche Prüfung: 1. Kurzvortrag: Information über das Thema, den Verlauf, den Inhalt der Dissertationsarbeit, Recherschen zu der Fachliteratur, 2. Die anschließende Diskussion mit dem Prüfer, 3. Konversation zum Thema Studium und Beruf, berufliche Pläne in die Zukunft.
