- Course objectives
- That subject has to give brief characteristics of the text sorts of the contemporary journalistic, especially of newscast that can be applied in the style teaching, and characteristics of the means of expression in the journalistic texts.
It is presupposed that the participants of the course are able after its finishing:
– to evaluate texts of the newscast and other journalistic texts from the factual and functional point of view, and almost from the language point of view, i.e. to evaluate means of expression in those texts; and to give reasons for his opinion;
– to identify means of expression in the texts of newscast that are used inconveniently, and to reason his opinion for the pupils;
– to explain breaking of the communicative and ethical norms if the means of expression are used inconveniently. - Syllabus
- 1. Language of the contemporary journalistic and newscast texts.
- 2. Style and language norms for contemporary journalistic texts, especially of newscast. Communication and ethical norms and how to respect them.
- 3. Genres of contemporary newscast of the language point of view. Characteristics of the texts of contemporary newscast. Expressivity and neutrality of the journalistic language.
- 4. Characteristics of the internet newscast. Language norms, communication and ethical norms and how to respect them.
- 5. Common language failures and mistakes in contemporary newscast. Breaking of the literary norms. Breaking of the communicative and ethical norms using inappropriate language.

- Teaching methods
- Introduction of the tutorial is focused to the short explanation of using unmarked and marked language means in the journalistic texts in connection with the communicative and style norms.
The main part stall be concentrated on textual analysis of the text of printed and internet newscast and on discussion on tendency to the growing expressivity in the newscast texts. - Assessment methods
- The participant of the course shall prepare individual analysis of some journalistic texts, preferable text of newscast, especially of the marked and unmarked language means and from the expressivity point of view.
