- Course objectives
- SPANISH FOREIGN LANGUAGE EXAM FOR FF DOCTORAL STUDENTS:
The AIM of this course is to test that the student has at least a C1 level (CEF - Common European Framework) of Spanish in ACADEMIC WRITING.
Students are obliged to either:
(1) write an essay (on the dissertation topic) organized by the Language Education Centre for the Faculty of Arts, MU Brno (FF CJV), or
(2) have the exam RECOGNIZED on the basis of an exam that was done before, or on the basis of appropriate documentation (such as a publication in the foreign language; see below). This Spanish essay writing is regularly conducted 3 times a year: during exam periods in January/February, May/June and September. Students must register at least 3 working days before the exam date.
Exam registration involves
(1) signing up in IS and
(2) providing a list of 5 topics (for an essay that would be about 4 standard pages long) to be sent to FSS/FF CJV. Each topic must include a brief synopsis of about 5 lines, or 5 sentences, or 5 points. The topics must connect to the theme of the student’s dissertation and must be signed by the student’s ADVISOR in order to be accepted. At the actual sitting of the exam, the examiner will select one of the proposed topics.
RECOGNITION OF EXAM is possible if one of the following is provided:
(1) International language certificates at the C1 level of CEF (Common European Framework) i.e., DELE SUPERIOR (2) the General State Language Exam,
(3) a university degree in Spanish,
(4) a degree obtained from a foreign university where the study language was Spanish, or
(5) PUBLICATIONS (the student’s name must be written as the main author or first co-author in all of the following cases): book, lecture, article; or PRESENTATION at a conference held in Spanish (the student’s name must be written as the main AUTHOR AND PRESENTER; the student must also submit a published abstract of the presentation and a written version of the presentation itself); a rejected unpublished article (the student must also submit the text and the rejection explanation). - Syllabus
