- At the end of the course students should be able to explain the phenomenon Middle-european policy, culture and art in the 20th century. The connections within the cultural circle of Vienna and Brno between 1850 and 1938. Vienna - Brno pacifism between 1890 and 1924. Political map of Europe after 1918. Inter-war European movements - Pan-European and middle European movement. Central European institute supporting economic and cultural identification in Brno (1929-1939). Cultural elites of the "first republic" Czechoslovak emigration after 1938 and 1958. Czech, Slovak, Austrian, Hungarian and Italian cultural personalities and their perception of Central Europe.
