Předpokladem pro úspěšné zvládnutí předmětu je důkladná domácí příprava, vypracování seminárních prací a napsání testu (75%).

Course objectives

At the end of the course, the student will be able to: Interpret the basic terms; understand the basic differences between the quantity and quality oriented researches; design the basic research plans (for the final wok and small research probes); use the basic methods of research and interpret the data collected. The subject introduces the students to basic of scientific work and possible use of basic methodes of pedagogical research.

Learning outcomes (in Czech)

Student bude po absolvování předmětu schopen:
• popsat rozdíly laického a vědeckého poznávání reality
• definovat rozdíly kvalitativní a kvantitativní výzkumné strategie, opírající se o znalost odlišných teoretických východisek (filozofií), cílů, metod, sběru a analýze dat, produkce rozmanitých teorií atd. • orientovat se v základních kvalitativních výzkumných strategiích, definovat rozdíly mezi jednotlivými strategiemi
(případová studie, etnografický výzkum, biografický výzkum atd.) • prokázat znalost základních metod sběru údajů a schopnost jejich analýzy (viz seminární cvičení)
• orientovat se v zásadách vědecké práce (práce se zdroji) a respektovat etické principy při práce s daty, respondenty a vědeckými zdroji
• realizovat návrh kvalitativního výzkumného šetření, sestavit projekt výzkumně orientované bakalářské práce
• orientovat se v základních charakteristikách proměnných (kvalitativních i kvantitativních) Mezi klíčové výstupy studentů v semináři řadíme:
• dovednost zpracovat koncept výzkumné studie, včetně kritické reflexe a respektování formálních náležitostí
• analyzovat transkript prostřednictvím vybrané kvalitativní metody
• navrhnout komplexní kvalitativní výzkumné šetření

Syllabus

• Information sources of special scientific work, types of source and literature sources. Work with special literature and electronical documents. Methodes of science, aims of scientific research, science and scientific theories, scientific work as creation of knowledges and as a way to discoveries. Problems and hypotesis, universality and speciality pf problems and hypotesis. Types of variables and making of selection and randomness, principle of random making. Research projects, aims, control of dispersion, insufficient project and good projects. Types of researches (Ex post facto research, laboratory and natural experiment, orientational and action research). Basics of measuring, reliability and validity. Chosen methodes of quantitative and qualitative research (observing, rating, quetionarie, (inquiry ), interview, forum, projective methodes, contentual analysis, semantical methodes, methodes of social relationnships measuring etc. Principles of qualitative research, theoretical sensitivity, processes of coding (open coding, axial coding, selective coding), process of berthed theory, helping procedures.

Assessment methods

The course is delivered in the combined form of the study. The students visit he consulting hours and also they study mostly at home using the study literature suggested and the e-course that is available for the course. Students will finish two seminar works based on the teacher’s instructions and hand them in before the final test. The passmark for the test is 75%. The test is a multiple choice quiz (one out of four).
