- Course objectives
- In order to be enrolled for this course, the student’s language competence must correspond with level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This course prepares students to be able to use German scholarly texts in their studies as well as future professional life; it also develops their communication abilities in both spheres mentioned. Students work with written and recorded texts on B2 level with respect to specific features of the scholarly language in terms of lexical and stylistic devices as well as grammar. The course also involves giving presentations and writing abstracts, comments, essays and formal letters.
- Learning outcomes
- By the end of the course, the student will be able to: - understand spoken LSP texts at B2 level of the CEFR; - understand written LSP texts at B2 level of the CEFR; - produce a formal email; - give a presentation; - show a good command of selected grammar structures at B2 level of the CEFR.

- Teaching methods
- The course instruction is realised through face-to-face sessions (“consultations”) and through individual/autonomous home preparation, which constitutes a significant portion of the study load. group work, role play, presentation, feedback, impulse writing, reading, pronounciation training
- Assessment methods
- Five in-term consultations. Credit requirements: 1. Active participation in consultations 2. Submittion of all in-term assignments 3. Oral presentations 4. Final test (Pass mark: 65 %)
