- Course objectives
- The main aim of this course is for students to learn to design various types of activities, whole lessons, and other types of virtual social gatherings connected to education in the online environment called Gather Town.
- Learning outcomes
- By the end of the course students will: 1. have become familiar with the features of Gather Town and how to use them in online learning environments. 2. have designed their own teaching space in Gather Town 3. have given constructive peer feedback on Gather Town activities to the other students in the class 4. be able to suggest many activities to colleagues on how to use Gather Town in English classes 5. be able to help their own students to develop activities for use in Gather Town
- Syllabus
- The course will be organised in 2 blocks. In the first block students will be introduced to Gather Town and its various features and will learn how Gather Town can be used for teaching purposes, especially teaching English. Between the 2 blocks students will be asked to create a Gather Town of their own with an activity which could be used with pupils and these will be piloted during the second session. The second block will consist of piloting the activities which have been created and giving constructive peer feedback.

- Teaching methods
- Teaching will happen online and students will be expected to actively participate in discussions and in giving feedback to other students.
- Assessment methods
- Students need to obtain 70 points out of a maximum of 100 in order to pass the course. 10 points: attendance and active participation 20 points: mid-semester task 50 points: creating the activity in Gather Town 10 points: sharing ideas in a forum and giving feedback on the initial stages of the students' activities 10 points: giving written constructive feedback on one student's activity
