Course objectives
Introduction to subject didactics is focused on the definition of didactics of practical teaching and vocational subjects in the system of educational sciences. Attention is also paid to the process of teaching practical teaching and vocational subjects and to the key areas of disciplinary didactics (objectives and content of teaching, teaching technology). The course is aimed at acquiring knowledge and skills in the application of general didactic knowledge to the teaching of practical teaching and vocational subjects.
Knowledge : Comprehensive overview of professional didactics of SOŠ, basic classification of didactics for technical fields, fields of services, medical fields and more.
Skills : Set goals for teaching vocational subjects, define teaching principles in the teaching of practical education and vocational subjects, apply didactic principles.
Attitudes : Acquire the values of pedagogical tact and work with pupils.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- set goals and content of practical training and vocational subjects;
- define teaching methods, forms and material means in teaching vocational subjects;
- select or develop assessment tools in the teaching of practical education and vocational subjects.

  • 1. Field didactics in the system of educational sciences, secondary vocational education.
  • 2. The process of teaching vocational subjects, types and phases of the educational process.
  • 3. Application of didactic principles and rules in the teaching of practical teaching and vocational subjects.
  • 4. Educational goals in the teaching of practical teaching and vocational subjects.
  • 5. Organization of the curriculum in the teaching documents. Basic, expanding and deepening curriculum in the teaching of practical education and vocational subjects.
  • 6. Teaching methods used in teaching vocational subjects, factors influencing the choice of methods. Classical teaching methods in teaching vocational subjects.
  • 7. Activity, independence and creativity of students in secondary vocational education and learning tasks supporting these activities.
  • 8. Activating and complex teaching methods in teaching vocational subjects.
  • 9. Organizational forms in secondary vocational education.
  • 10. Didactic technique and teaching aids used in the teaching of practical teaching and vocational subjects.

The course is completed by a colloquium. Requirements for the colloquium: knowledge of the topics covered in the syllabus. Colloquium is written and oral.
