Course objectives
The aim of this course is to introduce students to the basics of Russian correspondence. The emphasis is put on the socio-cultural aspect of communication.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to write letters on the discussed topics with respect to the formal requirements of Russian correspondence. Students will also contribute to the development of sociolinguistic competence of Russian.
Syllabus
  • This course is aimed at gaining practical knowledge of Russian formal communication within the following topics:
  • 1.-2. Basic rules and formalities of Russian correspondence. Linguistic aspect of courtesy.
  • 3.-4. Business letter structure.
  • 5-6. Writing a formal letter to a known addressee. Requests.
  • 7-8. Invitations, informations.
  • 9.-10. Complaints and reclamations. Informal correspondence.
  • 11. Congratulations. Gratitude.
  • 12. Revision.
